At Mountaineer Scuba, we offer scuba instruction with PADI and SDI to suit your preferences. If you’re new to scuba diving, our friendly and highly-skilled PADI instructors will guide you through the PADI® Open Water Diver certification, ensuring that you learn to scuba dive in a fun and supportive learning environment. We’re passionate about diving and we’d love to help you explore the incredible underwater world!
Start your Scuba adventure with a Discover Scuba Course. Give it a try! All Discover Scuba classes are in a pool and all students are closely monitored. You’ll learn about the equipment, how it works, and then get to try it for yourself.
When you’re ready for the next step, talk with Dave, Mark, or Nick about signing up for the Open Water Diver class – which gets you out of the pool and into the world of underwater adventure.
Students will complete the online training at PADI.com or SDI.com to learn the basics about scuba diving. Then you apply what you’ve learned in the pool. After learning the required skills, you’ll finish your training in the open water – typically one of our beautiful WV lakes like Tygart or Summersville. Or plan to finish your training on one of dive trips to the Caribbean!
Mountaineer Scuba offers professional First Responder Rescue Dive training. In fact, Mark has been the Dive Master for the Winfield District Volunteer Fire Department for 16 years.
Nick is a retired Morgantown Police Office and a member of the Morgantown dive team.
Dave, a Navy Veteran, teaches Rescue diving as well as First Aid, AES, and Adaptive Diving so everyone can learn to dive.
The Advanced Diver Certification is ideal for those looking to further their dive education and skills. This course includes practice in navigation and buoyancy, while also allowing you to complete specialty dives. Additionally, this certification enables you to experience deep dives, expanding your underwater exploration opportunities.
Mountaineer Scuba offers Nitrox Training. Enriched air, also known as nitrox or EANx, contains less nitrogen than regular air. Breathing less nitrogen means you can enjoy longer dives and shorter surface intervals. This is why Enriched Air Diver is the most popular PADI® course. Get in on this diving technique by taking a course with us!
PADI eLearning makes it easy to fit scuba lessons into a busy schedule. Learn about scuba diving principles and terminology whenever, wherever it’s convenient for you.
It’s your course on your time. Study offline, or online using a computer or mobile device. Connect with your instructor whenever you have a question.
Instructional Hours:
Based on the student’s schedule and facility availability (if indoors). We will work with your schedule as much as possible. Give us a call and get started!
